Dinner Out... Old Ebbitt Grill

Twice in the last month, we've taken guests to Old Ebbitt Grill in Washington, DC.  This is a special place to John and I as we went on one of our first dates here.  It is a particularly special place for me as this restaurant introduced me to Diet Coke with Lime in 2003 ;) ! 

The restaurant was busy on a weekend evening and we had a wonderful time with great food and fantastic company.

 

1: Autumn Duck Penne - Maple Leaf duck, butternut squash, kale, dried cranberries,
roasted red onions and pumpkin butter sauce,
2&3: Cannelloni de Casa - house-made pasta stuffed with spinach,
mortadella ham and three cheeses baked in a cream sauce

Peanut Butter Pie - roasted peanut and chocolate chip crust filled with peanut butter mousse

Pumpkin Ravioli - roasted butternut squash, arugula, glazed Black Mission figs and brown butter sauce

Grilled Filet Mignon - truffled potato croquettes, spinach-mushroom sauté and a red wine-shallot compound butter

Chocolate Cocktail

Bourbon Walnut Pie - chocolate cookie batter, walnut and bourbon pie
served warm with vanilla ice cream

Fall in Michigan - Mom's Birthday and GVSU Football

This October we traveled to Michigan to help my mom celebrate one extra special birthday, root for the Lakers, and to make some applesauce (check those photos our here).  It was a gorgeous weekend and we had a wonderful time.

I got ready with the ladies in the Bridal Suite at Saltwater Farm.  A gorgeous room that overlooks the vineyard.  John and the guys got ready at the hotel before heading up to the church.  Enjoy!
