Chicago Eats

I think I'm still full from our Chicago Eats...  With some amazing recommendations from friends, we found some really delicious places to try out.

First off - stuffed pizza at Giordano's!  We had the "special" pizza with sausage, mushroom, green peppers, and onions and a pitcher of Chicago's Goose Island 312 Urban Wheat Ale.

Gilt Bar, where we sat at the "chef's table".  This meant sitting at a counter that looked in on the kitchen.  It was so fun to see how everything was made.  Totally impressed with how they ran the kitchen and wow - was it delicious!

country ham & black mission fig salad with sherry vinaigrette

ricotta gnocchi with butternut squash, pancetta & sage (this was to die for... 2nd best pasta I've ever had! best was in Aruba and you'll see pictures of that in the not too distant future)

pork meatballs with romesco spices....

The only bad part... no room for dessert :(

Bin 36 Wine Bar was located in our hotel.  We tried a flight of white wines and had a lot of really yummy hummus.

Cantina Laredo Mexican Restaurant

Amazing Margaritas

Guacamole

Tacos, Enchiladas, and Tamales

Lunch at Grahamwich:

g'wich popcorn - grated parmesan + chopped chives + sea salt + cracked pepper + truffle oil

pork bbq - pork belly + root beer + creamy slaw + dill pickles + corn bread

italian sodas - vanilla kola & lemon-lime

And finally - because apparently we were still hungry...  The Berghoff

Sauerbraten with a side of Spaetzles and some Berghoff Oktoberfest.

Yes, I would say that we ate well in Chicago!

Fall in Chicago

We spent Columbus Day weekend with a trip to Chicago and Notre Dame.  It was an absolutely beautiful weekend and we had a lot of fun exploring the city, eating lots of food and seeing some good friends.  This was my first trip to Chicago and I feel like we really were able to see a lot of the city.  Our days included a trip to the top of the John Hancock Center, a stroll down the Magnificent Mile, visits to the Bean in Millennium Park at night and in the day, and taking in the fresh air at the end of Navy Pier.  Hope you enjoy some photos from our trip.

View from our window... #4

Last weekend we took an extra long weekend to visit Chicago and Notre Dame.  It was a gorgeous fall weekend filled with friends and football.  We hope to have pictures up here this week.  In the meantime, here's the view from our Chicago hotel room window...

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Can you figure out where John and I went this past weekend from this window seat view?
